Feature Articles

Here I bring you a collection of articles on many topics that I find interesting and in some cases, fun. Perhaps you will too.  In the first group you will find articles pertaining to the New York World Fair followed by Places of Interest.

New York World's Fair

  • From Alligators to Atoms

An essay on the many features of the Queens Zoo in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and how they bear "hidden" similarities to objects that once were in nearly same locations on the grounds during the World's Fairs of 1939-40 and 1964-65. The essay also takes a look at the Hall of Science where the similarities are not at all hidden. There it seems the World's Fair never ended.

  • Two Guys Decide Flushing is Site of Next NY World's fFair

An imaginary spoof in which these two guys jump the gun and take to "constructing" a new world's fair on the former grounds of the New York World's Fair after having just left a meeting where a world's fair startup group was looking into feasibility of another fair.

  • Nano SiP 6/1/02

Photos from a group tour of the site of the 1939-40 and 1964-65 New York World's Fairs. More about this walking tour group can be found at https://www.meetup.com/WorldsFair/

Places of Interest

  • The Old Mill Bathing Beach

A photo collection and history of this mid 20th century manmade lake that created summer fun memories for families of the post World War II baby-boomer era.
